474- working on new stuff.

I am working on a new little comic strip featuring everyone's favorite muties, It's strange drawing these characters. I am trying to get a certain look, their 90's cartoon incarnation, and I realize how far I have slipped in my more representational drawing. Which I will soon focus more intently on, and sharpen back up.  I don't want to give too much away on this new comic, as to give away the gags leave little else to discover.
I am working on a small collection of my recent comix for the upcoming SF Zinefest & A.P.E. also in SF. These two are the only regular conventions I attend these recent years, but I may add San Jose's Big Wow and Oakland's Image Expo. This new comic's working title is "Chem-Trails", should be around 32 pages and  be the standard comic size. Maybe I will draw on some bags and boards...maybe not.
cool.

a bit of fun.

So I bought this book on cartooning, it is pretty great so far, it has a bunch of drawing exercises to do. This one was to draw five to ten second doodles of famous cartoon characters from memory. Leaving just a essence of the character in the gesture, anyways, here are my favorite ones.

I think these might be pretty much in order of creation, with the last four being slightly mixed up, but you can definitely see a style forming.
My favorites of this bunch is Snoopy, because of his weird shape and emotion, and Micky Mouse, for the same reason. They both look very old school cartoony, simple bodied with little attention to limbs.
anyways, enjoy!

197- "specialization breeds weakness"

pencils.
starjourne fights off an alien pod creature.
i saw a interview with stan the man lee earlier today, it was really neat to hear him talk comics. i love talking comics, but its weird that i enjoy just talking about them and i am so out of the loop of comics nowadays. i love making comics, as rarely as i do it, but i love it. i need to get into this loop. like i didnt know that punisher died and came back like a frankenstein monster until recently. which i admire the gaul of the comic creators to go so far for the whole frankencastle pun.

thats why i love comics.
